Becoming the new me

I've always been quite 'flat chested' all my life. The only time I did have something was when I was pregnant!! I didn't think I could get any smaller until I breastfed both my children and was surprised when I was left with absolutely nothing but a flat chest.

I had thought about surgery a lot of my life but always wanted to wait until I had kids. I was always uncomfortable about what I could wear as I had nothing there except for whatever the super-duper padded bra could give me.

I always heard that getting surgery overseas was cheaper but never knew how and where to start looking, researching etc. Upon reading a magazine in the newspaper, I came across an article on Gorgeous Getaways and that was it, I started my journey to becoming the new me.

Meeting my surgeon in Melbourne
I didn't consult a doctor back here in Australia due to the fact that I knew of people who had the surgery done; and had been told prices and thought there is no way I could afford that! As luck has it, I have shares in a mine and was able to sell some shares early to be able to allow me to travel and get my surgery done.

I was able to meet with Dr Nasir when he was in Melbourne. That made things so much easier. As soon as I was greeted by him in a meeting room I was automatically comfortable with him. He is such an easy-going person that you could feel nothing but comfortable.

Another reason for traveling was the fact of knowing that there was 24-hour care the whole time I was in Malaysia. The Gorgeous Getaways staffs are amazing and cannot help enough.

Supportive friends

I was very nervous before traveling as my kids were coming with me. I think it was a question of whether I was doing the right thing, the money could be used on something else etc.

I told quite a few people that I know, people that have seen me in bathers and were going to see me in bathers again (especially the kids' swimming lessons!!!); and my long time friends, about what I was doing.

Everyone was so supportive especially my friends as they know what this would mean to me and how much it would boost my self esteem. As stated earlier the Gorgeous Getaways support staffs, there are not enough words to describe them. They are AMAZING.

Good to have company

When I was ready to go into surgery, I was very nervous as I knew I would be in pain but what was the pain going to be like? Would it be a pain that I have experienced before?? I was picked up by Richard (such a lovely man) and meet with Yit Lan at the hospital.

Yit lan (my Malaysian mum!!), stayed with me the whole time, from admission right up to when the took me to the OR. She stayed right by my side so I honestly didn't feel too nervous at that stage.

The nerves kicked in when I was taken through to the OR. Unlike here at home, where all your prepping is done either in your room or in a waiting area; it is all done in the Operating Room. That was all a bit scary to me as there was people sticking needles in here and there but before I knew it I was asleep.

The hospital was ok and the staff were quite good. Whenever I buzzed they were there to help out. I wasn't too good after surgery, due mainly to the morphine. Once I stopped that, I picked up a little.

The pain that I felt was very uncomfortable and felt like my chest couldn't be stretched anymore. I was bruised from my chest down to my stomach. The pain was something that I couldn't explain as I had never experienced it before.

I honestly didn't think I would feel how I felt especially days later. You don't understand how much you use your chest muscles until you have something like this done. I was discharged the next day upon seeing Dr Nasir.

A mighty pleased hubby

We returned home early due to my 20-month daughter getting tonsillitis whilst we were there. Unfortunately, we didn't get to really do anything or see anything. We went to KLCC and the Aquaria but that was mainly it.

Upon returning home, I am still sore at the moment with certain things that I do. My surgery has only been three weeks, and having my 4-year old son and 20-month old daughter, I don't seem to find the time to relax.

My scars are actually healing quite fast. At present, they look like the will fade quite quickly which is great; not that it really matters as no one will see them anyhow. My husband was very pleased when he saw the results but isn't allowed near them!!!!!

Bathers too small?

I am very pleased with my results now and looking at how they have progressed over the past three weeks they are going to get better again!!

I think come summertime, it will be such a relief to be able to wear a bikini without having to search for one that has so much padding in it that I may as well have stuck a box of tissues in them!! I think it will give me more confidence within myself and just knowing that I now feel like a woman and not a little girl.

A funny thing is that my husband bought me a new pair of bikinis when I was in Malaysia and when I come home they where too SMALL! I never thought that I would ever say that a pair of bathers would be too small on my breasts. I looked like I was imitating Pamela Anderson wearing a bikini top (although I must say my chest is nowhere near the size of hers, I still look flat chested compared to her!!!!)

Do your research

I would recommend anyone who is thinking about the surgery to research it a bit more as I researched but learnt a lot more after surgery was done. There is a website: justbreastimplants.com that has so much information that is amazing. I took a copy of photos from that and told Dr Nasir if I ended up with a chest like that I would be happy, he said he would try his best and so far they are on the right track!

Be prepared for pain as you will experience it. I have also found that I wasn't able to do little things that I thought I would be able to due to the fact of the muscles being affected in my chest. Overall I am sure that the end result will outweigh the pain that I felt and are still feeling somedays.

I ensure that I massage my breasts everyday, I find it easier to do so in the shower. My implants are softening which is great. I still continue to wear my compression bra during the day and a sports style bra at night. I got both of these from Amanita, and the ladies there are also so amazingly wonderful and helpful.

Gorgeous Getaways is the best!

The main reason I chose Gorgeous Getaways was knowing that the support was there for me whenever I needed it, whether it be for something little like helping us with my daughter.

Sal took us to the hospital and re-booked all our flights to enable us to fly home early, got me to a check up that same day. I can't recommend Gorgeous Getaways enough for all their support that they provide for all their clients.
