"Now or never"

I cannot remember when I first considered cosmetic surgery - probably about 10 years ago, but it always seemed a pipe dream as the cost here in Australia is so high.

After my marriage broke up 12 years ago and I was left to raise 3 young children on my own. Whilst working hard to support them, I started to look old and tired. My eyelids were very heavy and the sagging skin on my face made me look pertually grumpy and tired.

Over the last 5 years, I had also accumulated fat deposits on/around my middle due to menopause. After meeting a Gorgeous Getaways surgeon from Kuala Lumpur in Melbourne a year ago, I decided then and there to book for a facelift and liposuction to my abdomen. I would never have been able to afford to have the work done here and knew that it was "now or never".

Gorgeous Getaways was always the natural choice for me as I had read many articles about the services they offered and done a lot of research on the web. I had a few quotes from other companies doing cosmetic surgery in other destinations but, although Gorgeous Getaways was not the least expensive, I felt the surgeons credentials were the best.

I arranged my surgery for a time when I would have sufficient leave from work, enough funds available and that my daughter could fly to KL to meet me from US where she had been working for the last few years. It was great to see her and have some good one-on-one time. After I was sufficiently healed, we flew off to Kota Kinabalu for a magnificent 5 day holiday before coming home - a very good choice.

I told everyone what I was doing, as I knew they would all notice when I returned home. I had some negative responses to my news but overall people were quite positive and curious about my decision.

Meeting my surgeon

The Gorgeous Getaways staff were extremely attentive and helpful and my surgeon, Dr Nasir, was fabulous. A friend had had a tummy tuck and breast augmentation through Gorgeous Getaways the year before and raved about Dr Nasir. Now I understood why!!

I was nervous but more excited and couldn't wait to get it done so that the recovery would start. When I first woke up, I was VERY swollen around my face and neck, but I cannot say that I had any real pain at any stage - only extreme discomfort.

The nursing staff at the hospital were very caring and it was lovely to not be rushed out - I stayed only one night, but most of the next day I was feeling nauseous. The attitude of the hospital was that I should only leave when I felt completely well enough.

The difference in Gorgeous Getaways

The bruising started the next day and was very bad around my face and neck. I also had a lot of bruising on my abdomen from the lipo, but my tummy looked so much flatter that I welcomed it! The bruising and swelling around my eyes receded first, so I started to see what the end results might look like.

The nurse who came each morning to wash my hair and help me shower, Hafsah, was a godsend and just a beautiful, caring person. This nursing care is one of the major advantages of going with Gorgeous Getaways and something that only the very rich would enjoy here in Australia.

The new me - 15 years 'younger'

I was able to go out shopping for a little while on day three, and every day after that I felt better, even went to the zoo after only a week. I enjoyed having a pedicure and manicure in the first few days after surgery, and although I had my teary moments, I never questioned the choice I made to have the work done. The only thing I would have done differently was to have a few more days in KL to recover before flying out to Kota Kinabalu.

I would allow 2 full weeks before heading off on holiday in future (there are still a few things on my wish list for next time!!) The reaction of family and friends has been much fun, as I look at least 10 years younger - maybe 15 in full makeup!!

Several of my friends are determined to follow my example after seeing my end result. I feel wonderful and thank Gorgeous Getaways and Dr Nasir from the bottom of my heart.
