Quest for an elixir of youth

I had never been happy with my loose saggy neckline which no amount of diet or exercise had any effect on. Getting older of course, didn't help either.

So I did some research and found out I could afford to have surgery and a holiday overseas for much less than just the surgery would cost at home. I thought about it for a while; did lots of research then decided to go for it and do something for myself.

It's one of the best decisions I've ever made; the results are amazing and I look and feel 10 years younger.


I got two quotes at home, for $7700 and $8800, neither of which included overnight in hospital; just a day visit. Gorgeous Getaways gave me the nights before and after in hospital which was great and in hindsight quite necessary.

Gorgeous Getaways were very helpful and prompt with my (many) questions and made me feel totally at ease while providing the same high standards of surgery I would expect at home, but at much less than half the price.

Pre surgery jitters

I was a little nervous being my first ever surgery of any kind, but more excited and looking forward to finally fixing something which has undermined my self confidence for many years.

I felt totally confident in my choice of doctor and hospital having done lots of research. Although the hospital was a little old (which I had been warned), the hygiene was perfect and the staff were wonderfully reassuring and relaxing, making me feel right at home.

I didn't tell anybody my plans and hardly anybody has really figured out I've had anything done - just comments like "Have you lost weight?", "You look ten years younger", "You look so well rested and happy after your holidays" etc, which is great to hear.

I always eat very healthy, drink lots of water and exercise anyway so just kept that up beforehand and also took some silica tablets.

Surgery and a great recovery

I was a little nervous about surgery but mostly excited and couldn't wait to get on with it after waiting so long. The hospital was clean and comfortable and the staff were so lovely and friendly.

I relaxed for the evening before, had a pretty good sleep and went into surgery around lunch time. I woke up a few hours later feeling groggy and a little sore but really not too bad.

I was actually starving that night and had dinner, a couple of shots (pethadine I think) during the night helped me sleep on and off, bandages off next day around lunch and off home to relax and lounge around.

Actually, I pretty much got on with my holiday from the next day despite being a little bruised and swollen. I did various day tours around KL; shopping of course, and even went out to the rainforest at Taman Negara for a few days which may have been a little reckless but everything healed fine.

Dr Nasir thought that remaining active probably helped with my recovery.

Happy, confident, positive

My results are excellent; I feel and look younger, more confident, have even come out of a long hybernation and met a lovely new man, getting out and about and having heaps of fun.

Sounds maybe a little vain and shallow to say 'surgery changed my life' but feeling good about yourself really does have a positive impact on every aspect of your life. I just feel generally happier and more content which comes back in positive feedback from others.

Being an independent spirit (and on a ridiculously tight budget LOL), I was happy to stay at Chinatown by myself and did just fine. However I would fully agree with the Gorgeous Getaways folks that most people, especially having more extensive surgery, would be better off having a companion and staying somewhere maybe slightly more fancy :)

Everyone at Gorgeous Getaways was totally supportive and reassuring, making the whole experience much more positive and relaxing than I would have expected surgery to be.

I would highly recommend them to anyone considering the holiday surgery option.
