Zenia tells her story:
My problems began about 10 years
ago, I needed to do something about my post-pregnancy
and weight loss body. My tummy has bothered me since I
was 18 years old and had my first child I decided I would
have the surgery once I was in a financial position to
do so...and this was because I could afford to go ahead
as long as I had it done with Gorgeous Getaways.
I did not want to go to Europe as I had
heard some bad press about unclean hospitals and botched
surgeries, but my friend is Malaysian and his mum was
a nurse in Malaysia and she assured me that they were
the best in the world. I also did a lot of research, spoke
to other satisfied Gorgeous Getaways clients and saw a
British TV documentary that followed British women to
Malaysia with Gorgeous Getaways. I was very impressed.
I wouldn't discourage it, but personally
felt it was easier to recuperate alone, rest is a great
healer without obligation to go sightseeing! I went alone
as I wanted to do this my own way. Family can be over
worried at your recovery and you may look worse than you
feel. It can be more distressing for them than you!
Harley St versus Malaysia, it’s
no competition!
I finally made my decision when I realized
that excess skin does not go with exercise. My tummy looked
like a bottom at the front! I had a previous consultation
at a Harley medical place, and they wanted me to make
my way to London, go home the next day after surgery,
and then go back 6 weeks later for post op check-up. No
after care, no meeting up with other clients only concerns
about how quick could I book and pay!! They didn't care
about my reason for surgery or give me any advice on post
op care. Cost was an issue for me but not the sole reason
for going with Gorgeous Getaways.
I met some wonderful new friends, and
we did meet up at Gorgeous Getaways get togethers, but
we also met up socially and privately. I was nervous before
my holiday...but once I arrived and met the Gorgeous Getaways
girls and my surgeon, I was totally excited and couldn't
wait to go ahead.
I kept telling myself that if I wasn't
happy once I got there that I was under no obligation
and could just stay at the hotel for 21 days and come
home! I had no money exchanged until I agreed to go ahead,
so no lost deposits etc.
I told everyone that I was about to do
something that I had only dreamt of and suddenly it was
becoming a reality! I felt like I had won the lottery.
I never thought having surgery for cosmetic reasons or
that it was affordable and within my reach....just for
the rich and famous! How wrong I was!
An amazing hospital
Dr Nasir was great, very charming and
made me very certain I was in good hands. I trusted him
implicitly. Prince Court Medical Centre was like a 5 star
hotel!! Amazing! So clean and very up to date with all
modern conveniences e.g. safety deposits box, kettle and
TV etc.
I was up and about the next day after
surgery. I believe it is better to get back to normal
as soon as possible. In preparation, I took vitamin E
and Arnica for one month before my surgery! I didn't do
much more than walk about and lots of Dettol baths!!!!
Nothing of great interest happened to me, apart from meeting
some very great girls, (including the staff) oh yes...Malaysian
loos! They can be a little bit of a challenge when you
have had a tummy tuck luckily there are usually western
style available too!!
I was worried a little about a 13 hr flight
and getting from London to Dorset...but thanks to Dr Nasir
writing a letter to Malaysian Airlines explaining I had
had surgery...I had four seats to myself and slept most
of the journey.
Taking a leap of faith
I was excited about my family’s
reaction...and couldn't wait to go shopping for trendy
clothes.
Everyone thinks I look great and I act even more confidently
than before . I am an intelligent woman but had had no
body confidence since my husband left 8 years ago! No
boyfriends or dates due to 'ugly body syndrome'. My friends
say I am attractive but they didn't see my naked excuse
for a body. I would like to be dating again. Yippee! Feel
very body confident now as for my career...I work with
adults with learning difficulties and I seem to have more
fun with them now.
I feel I can throw anything on and look
good.....no more rummaging through hundreds of clothes
before I find something that covers the saggy belly...or
has to hide my lopsided boobs and saggy arms.
If you ever feel that surgery is your
only hope then you must take a leap of faith and tell
yourself that you are worth it!!!
Imagine the day you can get up in the
morning and love what you see in the mirror!!...feel confident
to be at the front of the room and not sat in the corner...the
day you can walk into most clothing stores and buy that
lovely "little black dress" in the window that
you would have only bought as a gift for your daughter!
You won't regret it
Don't take too many clothes...and do take
loose and comfortable cotton items. Dettol is a must as
it aids good healing...and take arnica pills by nelsons
to aid in healing the bruising (amazingly quick results)
You won't regret it....but be 100% sure
you can live with all that attention! Cos you will get
plenty interest afterwards for sure.
I do not have any negative comments on
my treatment before or after surgery. It was professionally
dealt with. My physical and emotional care was well catered
for. My escort to and from appointments were punctual;
my nurses were more than efficient and very friendly.
Gorgeous Getaway staff visited me every
day for a chat and to check if I had any concerns....(I
had very few). As I have worked on most wards on several
British hospitals, I know what good nursing/wards/care
is and what is not! I can say that in Malaysia I was astounded
at the cleanliness and professionalism of the hospital
and the staff. My room was wonderful and my post op care
incredible.
