Surgery after weight loss

I had Gastric Banding performed 3 years ago, having after that lost 5 stone (30kg). I wanted to loose all the loose skin I had left.

The appearance of my body shape was not normal with so much loose skin, and it bothered me so much. I wanted to have a flatter-looking tummy, with a smaller body size and wear nice fitted clothing, instead of baggy oversized clothing.

I have been considering plastic surgery for around 2 years. To have loose skin removed was the final chapter of my journey to a new me.
Options in Malaysia

I had spoken to a plastic surgeon in the UK, although more convenient as closer to home, the prices were far too high for me to afford all this surgery to be done in the UK.

Having traveled to Malaysia before, I knew the standards of medical care were very high. I wanted to have the backup of any help for any problems or emergencies that may occur, after surgery.

Having studied other cosmetic surgery options, Gorgeous Getaways came up as a first choice for excellent surgeons, hospitals, and care of clients.

Mental and physical preparations

I told only a few friends of my plans to have surgery in KL.

When I first met Dr. Jalil, I felt totally relaxed with all my questions, he is a very caring, dedicated professional, a very humble man who will go into great detail the procedures, after care, etc.

He will take as long as you need to ask anything, and will never make you feel rushed.

I felt at ease and relaxed from the first moment I arrived.

Some preparations I did before travel, like extra workouts in the gym to make me a stronger person prior to coming to KL and it helps with recovery as well.
In the company of caring people

On the morning I was admitted to the hospital for my first surgery, I was a little anxious, but not too nervous. Gorgeous Getaways drove me to the hospital in style, and stayed with me throughout the admission/payment process.

The hospital staffs are all so happy, beautiful people. Pre-surgery tests all done in our rooms before going to theatre. I felt calm and well cared for.

Kathy from Gorgeous Getaways stayed with me all the time, right until I went into the operating theatre. She was fantastic, always made me laugh, and is an absolute star.

When I came round from surgery, I had some pain and discomfort, but had excellent pain relief at all times, once the pain was under control, I was able to rest and recover quietly in my room. The nursing staff gave me dedicated care at all times, even throughout the night.

The next day, a wonderful nurse called Sharifah cared for all my needs, from showering to eating. She even peeled and cut fresh fruit for me. (service like that would not happen in UK).

I was discharged after 4 days, and transferred to my apartment.
Recovering in style

It took me a few weeks to recover, and get my strength back, but I had multiple major procedures, so some will take longer to recover than others.

While recovering, I had several wonderful reflexology pampering treatments. I got my hair restyled, manicure/pedicure, all so nice to get done when you start to feel better.

I am looking forward to going back home, but after spending such a long time in KL (8 weeks), it will be hard for me to go back and start work again. I’ve had so many people to care for me here, and it has been an amazing adventure.

I’m quite excited about the reaction I may get from my family and work colleagues. Very keen to see they notice the new me!!
15 years younger

My husband came out to join me for the last 2 weeks of my stay. He could not believe the difference when he first looked at me. Surgery has taken at least 15 years off me.

I’m very happy with the results, I still have a lot of swelling in the face and thigh areas, but I know these will reduce in time. All the clothes I’ve brought with me no longer fit, so I will have to purchase a new wardrobe when I get home!

This whole experience has changed my life for the better. I am smaller than before, and my face more youthful looking.

I feel pleased with the results and can now wear smart clothing to work and when at home. This has been nothing short of a huge bonus.

A few tips

Be prepared to have days when you don’t feel well enough to go out, because you can’t hurry recovery. Take arnica cream to help with any bruising.

Look into the surgeries you are considering, then you will have a better idea of what to expect, and what the results should look like.

Home away from home

All Gorgeous Getaways staffs were excellent, as they went out of their way to do everything for me. Someone was always close by if you needed any help.

Even the Gorgeous Getaways driver, Richard, was always smiling and very helpful, fantastic.

Lanson Place is a great home away from home. And the staffs are all courteous and helpful. I would recommend Gorgeous Getaways to anyone. I have found no faults or complaints about the service provided to me. In fact, I praise the staff for their kind and caring attitude.
