42 stone to 12 stone
I used to weigh 42 stone at my biggest. After successful surgery 5 years ago, I lost approximately 30 stone. Exercise and creams couldn't tone anymore and I was left with excessive loose skin. My hubby has never pressured me to do anything to my body and has always told me I was beautiful even at 42 stone and later with the loose skin. So I am lucky in that I never had to 'do' anything to my physical appearance in order to 'keep' my husband.

I wanted to have the surgery for ME, I wanted to look like I felt inside - a desirable sexy wife Dave told me I was and always had been, but looking in the mirror didn't convince me. I hated the way I had to wear support tight underclothes in order to smooth out my outline. I hated the fact I was so limited to the clothes I could wear, especially during summer - singlets, t-shirts, sleeveless dresses etc were definite 'NO's'. I used to feel really low when everyone around me enjoyed the sun while I was always 'covered' up.

I first contemplated plastic surgery seriously just over 2 years ago. I have always believed in finding out as much as possible in anything you may undertake. So I researched surgeons all over the world via the internet.

I e-mailed over 50 surgeons around the world, explaining my circumstances and getting estimates/quotes for various procedures. Although the cost of surgery played a very important role in the decision making, it was not the main reason for the final choice. It would be stupid to put cost before quality and end up worse than you started. Surgery at home would be triple what it has cost us with Gorgeous Getaways and there are no surgeons willing to do multiple procedures so close together. It would have taken over a year to complete what I have had
done in 3 weeks.

I came across Gorgeous Getaways on the internet and like the others researched carefully, I wrote to Louise in the beginning of 2006 asking lots of questions, while this went on I looked up the surgeons they use, the hospital and the hotels. I spoke to my own GP who is fabulous and very supportive and decided to take the next step and contacted Louise again. Many e-mails later, I had booked and confirmed surgery date of 10th November 06.

Best surgeon on the planet
I actually wasn't nervous about the surgery at all, just excited at the prospect of finally getting my dream come true. I kept things quiet up until the last week or two before leaving, and I told a few people I was in fact having 'some' surgery done.

The day before leaving I got a little apprehensive, was I doing the right thing.. would I survive, but that didn't last, the excitement came back as soon as the plane took off. I knew I was flying toward a whole new beginning.
Both Dave and myself were totally blown away at how fabulous the hospital and nurses were. Dr Jalil is truly the best surgeon on the planet - such a humble, warm, caring man. His skill and professionalism is second to none, what he has achieved is truly remarkable.
The whole Gorgeous Getaways team are amazing, they work so hard. You are contacted every day and can be assured that whatever time of day or night it is, there is always someone at the end of the phone. The girls are with you minutes after you call, but leave you to do your own thing should you want to. I never once felt like a 'client'. They were and are like an extended family.

My body lift surgery
We arrived in Kuala Lumpur on the 8th November at around 10.00pm, and were picked up at the airport by Richard, Gorgeous Getaways' driver. The drive to the hotel took about an hour and we were taken to our room at Lanson Place. The room was fantastic, very spacious and well equipped.

Lennie and Karen met us the next morning and we were taken for a fab massage and lunch.

Then it was off to hospital for consultation with Dr Jalil. Surgery booked for the next day.

Admission to hospital took about an hour, we paid for all surgeries in advance although we were told we didn't have to and only had to pay for procedures due to be carried out that day.

We were taken up to our private room and introduced to the nursing staff. I had blood tests and CCG, answered lots of questions about my health history etc. The nurses came in and got me ready for surgery. Dave came as far as he was allowed to, at theatre door. So, accompanied by my hubby, Gorgeous Getaways girls and nurses, off I went for part 1.

I woke to find I had had a circumferential tummy tuck and breast lift. There was no pain, just discomfort and feeling stiff. The IV was removed the next morning as I hadn't used the morphine. I managed comfortably with the tablets given by the nurses and asked once for a pethadine injection.
The drains on my tummy were removed on the 3rd day after surgery and we returned to the hotel. I felt great, went shopping with aid of wheelchair and had a fab time. The next few days were spent sightseeing/shopping, then back on 17th for more surgery. This time, an extensive backlift, extended armlift, face and neck lift. Everything went so smooth again for admission and my room was ready for me.

Again, I woke pain free, but this time did use the morphine pump during the night and early morning. Back to hotel after a couple of days, felt great, no pain just a little tired.

Surgery and shopping cycle
My recovery has been excellent, I always heal well and believe a positive outlook helps tremendously. After each surgery of which I had 3, over a period of 11 days, I have mobilized immediately, taking it easy by just standing by my bed at first, then walking round the room and building up to walk round the ward.

My first big surgery meant staying in hospital for 3 days due to the drains needed on my tummy. I went out shopping with hubby using a wheelchair which was great for moral. The next 3 days were spent sightseeing and shopping till my next surgery, the second surgery, also a long one went really well, and I left the hospital after 2 days and again felt great, just a little tired after exercise. The 3rd and final op went as smoothly as the previous 2 and I only stayed overnight.

Everything top notch

The Gorgeous Getaways girls are terrific and support you so well they all work very hard to make your experience as trouble free as possible. Dr Jalil is a tremendous surgeon and really nice person. I cannot say enough about the hospital - the nurses are amazing, so gentle and caring, Sharifah the nurse who cared for me during my surgeries is a wonderful lady, and her warm smiling face and gentle nature really goes a long way towards your recovery. The hospital is expertly run and of the highest standards. I would not hesitate to use this hospital again.

There is so much to do in Kuala Lumpur, we went sightseeing and shopping every day. Dave had his teeth whitened while I was having a check up with Dr Jalil. We both had a fabulous massage on arrival and getting a makeover is a must.

The trip home was both exciting and a little sad, I loved all the Gorgeous Getaways girls and will miss them as they are friends. I was very excited at seeing my son Ben again and his reaction made it all worthwhile. When he saw me he hugged me and said he had a 'beautiful model' for a mum. He was so excited at 'mum's new look' he couldn't stop grinning.

Better than a million bucks
Everyone at home is amazed at the transformation and I have received only the best positive fabulous comments from everyone who knows me. Some people I have known a long time didn't even recognize me.

I feel like, in fact better than a million dollars. My inner confidence is bursting out all over. I am happier than I have ever been and I have always enjoyed life to the full before. This has enhanced my life so much. I am still in the early stages of healing and do get tired more than before the surgeries. I have had a couple of days when I have experienced discomfort in the surgery areas for example 'pulling' where muscles etc. are healing but overall things are very good.

A good experience
I believe that you should mobilize as soon as possible and keep this at a steady pace throughout your healing, but you must also listen to your body - rest when it tells you to. Try not to get over tired.

If you are considering multiple surgeries I believe you need to take someone with you for support, the Gorgeous Getaways girls are fantastic but I know I had a good experience because my hubby was there with me all the way.

If I ever want any more surgery and this is a possibility, I will be getting in touch with the Gorgeous Getaways team again. I would not consider any other surgeon or hospital as I am so thrilled with the results I have.
